This section describes some of the main
characteristics of BC's economy. It begins with a brief overview of the
province's economy and how it has changed over time, then it looks at the job
market, and compares trends in employment and GDP (gross domestic product, also
referred to as value added).
It provides a brief overview of the
industrial structure of the economy, the sorts of jobs British Columbians have,
some of the characteristics of the work force, and how the labour force is
distributed around the province. This section also examines what is expected to
happen in
British Columbia
during the next few years.
